In the article, he writes that, “God has created all these numberless people to be quite the simplest, without malice or duplicity, most obedient, most faithful to their natural Lords, and to the Christians, whom they serve; the most humble, most patient, most peaceful and calm, without strife nor tumults; not wrangling, nor querulous, as free from uproar, hate and desire of revenge as any in the world” (Cobbs. 8-9). Both the movie Crash and Treuer’s From Rez Life: An Indian's Journey through Reservation Life discuss the issue of ethnic relations. Even though these works have a different approach to the issue, they are also quite similar because they show how people from different ethnical and cultural backgrounds interact with each other. Moreover, they also show how members of the same ethnic groups deal with each other and their own cultural identity. Both of these works show how the process of assimilation and their circumstances shape the way that different groups observe themselves and their cultural identity and the way they interact with each other which quite often indirectly leads to racism.…

Members from the Havasupai tribe, a small tribe from the Grand Canyon, were infuriated to find that their blood tests were being utilized for research studies beyond the original scope or perceived intent of the project. In other words, the tribe thought it had consented to diabetes research, yet found that scientists were additionally considering schizophrenia and the tribe's ethnic origins. Members from the tribe completed a consent form that incorporated a sign that the blood tests could be utilized to "consider the reasons for behavioral/medical disorders. " Such a condition is positively broad to incorporate research on schizophrenia; research on genetic origins seems to be less appropriate. Looking back, ASU presumably wishes it had…

In Indian Captivity Narratives, typically a white woman, who is of European descent, is kidnapped and held captive by American Indians who consider her to be uncivilized and of the wrong beliefs. These narratives, which typically are autobiographical, capture the interest of readers and create reactions of shock, empathy, and inspiration. Narratives as such anticipate popular fiction, especially romance, and prefigure gothic literature with the “depictions of Indian as dark, hellish, cunning, and unpredictable” (Campbell, 2015). One of the more popular captivity narratives was based on Mary White Rowlandson and her eleven-week captivity. Mary White, later known as Mary White Rowlandson, was born in 1637 in Somerset, England.…

We both stood in front of this large white drape covering a door to the backyard, it had a faint purple pink colors shining through.
