On May 12, 2018 I participated in a 10k run in Pleasington, California, with both my brother and dad. We woke up at 6:30am and left at around 6:50 to make sure we got our T-shirts. When I got my number and was waiting at the starting line I felt nervous. I have never been apart of anything like that so I didn't know what to expect, but I felt confident that I was going to be able to complete with ease. The course we were running was a like the shape of a pretzel were we started at the finish line and had to fun in a big figure eight . We had to run the course twice in order to complete the 10k and we had to run up some hills and run alongside with a lake. The first 10 minutes I felt like I was going to beat the course in an hour, but …show more content…
It took me a couple minutes to do this and decided to wait for my dad, so we could run the rest of the way together. About 10 minutes after we were running together I started to feel like my legs were dead and had to slow my pace. I wasn't even half way through the course and I felt like quitting. I'm not a fast runner, but I am able to keep a steady pace for a bit. I continued to run until I got to a water station and had to stop and drink 2 cups to try and catch my breath. My dad and I continued and were both already exhausted we continued to run alongside the lake and were just ready for the race to end. We made our way back to where we started and saw my brother not too far away from us. We continued on our way back to the figure eight. That was when we saw the car, my dad suggested that we should just quit and wait for my brother to finish. I didn't want to because I felt like I was able to complete the race. So I walk wit my dad for a bit until he was able to conserve enough energy to run again. The second half of the race was way worse than the …show more content…
I was running, but I suddenly felt a pop in my hip area and felt a sharp pain in my groin. I had the stop and was scared that I was going to have to quit the race. I then started to walk again and was waitin for my dad to catch up to me. I grabbed some water and waited for him. Once he caught up with me I told him what happen and told me to jog. I was running with him when my achilles started to feel sore, so I then decide to run on my heels. We continued and eventually saw the finish line. As soon as I saw it I was in a state of euphoria, but it was still a good distance away from us. We continued on our way to the finish line, but my dad said he needed to stop for a break. He told me he couldn't finish, but I told him to push it and we made it to the finish line. We both finished at 1 hour and 12 minutes, while my brother finished 7 minutes before us. They had bottled water as soon as we crossed the finish line and I chugged down two. We asked a couple to take a picture of us and then we headed back to the car. I won't ever forget that day, when I realized that it wasn't going to be an easy task it gave me more motivation to

Pop Up I've played baseball as long as I can remember, but somehow, as a junior in highschool, my swing was still consistently inconsistent. You'd think that the many years of swinging a bat over and over and all the hundreds of baseball movies would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. Well not completely wrong, I did learn a few pointers on how to get my timing down, and I could run decently fast, but I wasn't going to be drafted into the MLB or even scouted for a college team. Last summer, my VFW summer team wasn't anything special; we had a few solid players, but also some players, like me, were struggling to make solid contact with the baseball.…

I think that once you have friends who you can talk to, and run with it makes the run seem a lot faster. People will be on the sideline cheering you on and that will motivate you to keep running and get to the finish line. Don’t fret on how long the run is, just focus on how good you’ll feel when you get to the finish line and everyone is cheering, you get a medal, and you get free food and drinks. When you finish the marathon you can wear your medal around your neck to show it off and to tell people how you completed it and how good you feel. You will love all the attention that people give you because they will be amazed that you ran a marathon.…
