Something I found really interesting in the preoperational booklet/magazine, was the text by Willem Reerink: “The Day I Became Black”. There are a lot of reasons why I find this interesting, and in this answer I will tell you some of them. First of all, I reacted to the title immediately. How is it possible for a person to turn black in a day? This made me want to read further. I also think that it`s a bit weird that no one has even had the thought of Willem being black until he said so himself, and how can they react in the way that they do? People literally get pre-judged because of religion, skin colour and their original country or even their parents original country. Most people just want to see themselves as a normal citizen where they live. Unfortunately, this only gets tougher and tougher with how the society evolves. This kind of pre-judging is actually something that we should take much more seriously than we do now. Why do people think it is okay to judge someone innocent this way? I seriously don´t get the fact that people are told what they can and cannot do. I mean, what if you couldn´t do the things you wanted to do, just because you were white and people meant that only black people could do that. For example, play basketball . These kinds of stereotypes of how people should act, based on my sights , only occurs because the majority of people doing it are for example black. Think of it. The people who are saying this, actually means that just because of your skin colour it makes you a totally different person than the people with another skin colour. Now that sounds wrong to
