The pictures of perfect people that we see in film and television are unrealistic and we continue to think we can look like these people if we work out and eat less. Basically, the media controls our views and standards. Every day, we see physical attractiveness portrayed by skinny beautiful models and men with toned muscular bodies. Bias of body variety has a lot to do with prejudice of size and shape in our culture. Being thin, toned and muscular are the traits of the hard-working, successful, and beautiful people. Similarly, if you are fat everyone thinks you are lazy, ugly, and do not have any will-power because eating too much get people over weight. In a perfect world how a person looks should not be a guide to who and what they are. …show more content…
The main character is the perfect husband; hard-working, rich and showering his wife with lots of gifts. The mother was so into the show, that she would sometimes laugh just to draw attention to herself, and it looked like she was mocking the husband because he was the opposite in appearance to the soap opera star. The wife in this story was pretty and spent many hours preparing herself to look good. In the story it stated “Mum left for work at seven in the morning but she woke up at five, to shower and dress. Many times I had caught men ogling at her as she walked, twisting her hips. When walking side by side with Dad they looked ridiculous,” with this statement it show how the young man is judging his parent’s appearance based on what I believe is the character that he see on …show more content…
