There are currently 62 numbered tombs that have been discovered in the Valley of the Kings. Not all occupants have been identified and not all have been excavated. Epigraphy, whether done as an exact copy or done photographically, has been attempted in only 25 of these tombs (see chart 1). Of these 25, 8 do not have any epigraphic publications associated with them. Moreover, almost all KV tombs have been mentioned in a larger publication dealing with of the Valley of the Kings, namely Elizabeth Thomas, The Royal Necropolis of Thebes, Kent Weeks, Atlas of the Valley of the Kings, Nicholas Reeves and Richard Wilkinson, The Complete Valley of the Kings, and Carl Nicholas Reeves, Valley of the Kings: the Decline of a Royal Necropolis.…

Many chambers, dead ends, and false chambers were fashioned to fool robbers who desired to steal the magnificent treasures. In addition to these confusing mazes, curses were written on the wall within the pyramids to terrify tomb raiders. Ancient Egypt is famous for the construction of these enormous pyramids. Egypt is also known for…

I finished reading the book Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan on April 18, 2017. A part that disappointed me was when I found out that Sadie’s mom died, because if I was in Sadie's position I would feel like have a part of me missing and probably cry once in awhile, especially thinking about the fact that I would not be born without her. While reading the book,I wondered if the stranger in the the beginning of the book was actually their mother because in most books the mysterious person is almost always someone who he/she knows or is related to. My favorite character is Carter, because even when Sadie does thing she shouldn’t be doing or starts to act like a brat Carter never gets annoyed and makes sure she is safe. While reading the book, I got…

Almost nothing grows there – no tree, no shrub, no blade of grass. The sun hits down from an everlastingly clear sky whose bright blue is the only colour divergence to the dull, constant dark gold rock and sand, hills and valley floor. All along the desert cliffs there are many tunnels which lead towards the Valley of the Kings , going hundreds of feet into the mountain where the pharaohs were buried. The ancient Egyptians made them with many different and dangerous branches, pitfalls and traps to keep people from finding the kings. The valley itself is accurately honeycombed with tombs, which, over the times, contained some of the richest treasures ever set down by men to the honour of their dead, to honour their pharaohs.…

The Egyptians created many pieces of jewelry and pottery to be put into these tombs, in hopes that this person would have a good afterlife. Ancient civilization is full of many different stories and different ways of living. The ancient civilizations that we have studied such as Ancient Mesopotamia, ancient Eqypt, and ancient Greece are all very unique in their own ways but the greatest one in my opinion would be Ancient Egypt. I chose ancient Egypt for various reasons. The most obvious reasons would be that the Egyptians did not have to be sent off on their own at a young age to learn how to survive and learn how to go to war like the ancient Greeks. Another thing that the Egyptians did not have to do was live by the Hammurabi code like in ancient Mesopotamia.…
