Lewis and Clark started their journey on May 14, 1804 ending March 23, 1806. They were scavenging to find a Northwest passage way, that would prove to be very useful in trade. Lewis and Clark were able to bring a group called the Corps of Discovery who consisted of 33 people not counting Lewis manservant York and Sacagawea. Lewis and Clark journey was very useful for three reasons. The Dominguez-Escalante Expedition was historically important because these men were the first people, not Indians, to explore much of Utah gaining information on the people that they met and the land itself. The Dominguez-Escalante Journal it the accounting of the expedition traveling thru Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. Whitman Mission is deserted I was expecting a place to rest and stock up on supplies. Everyone gone, houses burned, and people hungry with no shelter. We reach Whitman Mission and figure out that it is very deserted. We only saw a family of four on a wagon. But we did discover that one month earlier the Cayuse Indians attacked the mission and killed many people. So that might explain why Whitman Mission has barely any people. Reflecting on our five days spent in Retezat, I cannot help but relish in almost every single experience since it was all so new to me. I had never gone on a hiking trip before, nor had I ever spent that much time in the wilderness being able to truly enjoy God’s creation. However, there were two moments that definitely stick out to me as I reflect on the journey: the first being our time at the summit of Peleaga and the second being the night that Paige, Janelle and I spent in the Salvamont cabana. I think these stick out the most because they were the only time where I could relax and be in the moment. At these times, I was no longer completely focused on the physical implications of the hike like my cold body or the worry of making sure I was taking the right step.…
