Today, it is no uncommon sight to see parents refusing to vaccinate their children for a myriad of reasons. In effect, these unvaccinated children pose threats to everyone around them, having the potential to spread diseases against which they ought to have been vaccinated. Not only do the parents reject the medical consensus that vaccinations are by far more beneficial than harmful, they also insist that their children, who again pose threats to other children by being unvaccinated, ought to be able to go to public schools or use public transportation, where they are not only at risk of becoming sick themselves, but also of infecting others. Well, I say we still ought to get vaccinated. Autism in itself is not fatal, but many of the diseases against which the vaccinations protect us are. To claim that it’s better to be dead than autistic is, frankly, appalling. If you do not take the vaccine, you could contract the disease and die. If you do take the vaccine, you may get autism. The choice should be clear. Many parents refuse to vaccinate their children and also send their children to public school, or let them ride public transportation, or otherwise use public services and serve as a potential vector for the disease. I believe that if your child is not vaccinated, they are potential vectors for disease, and thus should not be allowed near others. This is unfortunate, because of course the child has no say in the matter. The paranoia that medical researchers are malicious, or at best negligent, and push vaccinations which cause autism. The paranoia that the government is overstepping its authority in compelling irrational anti-vaccination proponents to vaccinate their children. In fact, I think this agenda is part of a broader one; namely, the paranoia of the Illuminati or New World Order. I believe it to be no coincidence that those who are most opposed to vaccinations are often also invested in the idea of a secret society controlling the world. They believe this secret society has a vested interest in culling the population or at least crippling them, so they, the proponents of the anti-vaccination agenda, have invented this agenda to substantiate this belief.
