So instead of taking a couple of tylenol, a person should really try incorporating a 10 minute walk here and there. Exercising does not just help your physical health, but also your mental and social health. It helps to relieve stress and release endorphins which are chemicals that help to make a person happy. Some doctors even say that exercising is better than an antidepressant for those suffering from depression. Instead of relying on a pill to get a person to their goal weight or helping to make them happy, they should really try just exercising. A person can meet people and participate in numerous events that will help them exercise, but also socialize, increasing their social well-being (Lack of Exercise). Although exercising and eating right does help, there are other habits that Americans participate in that influence your health. Some of the worst habits a person can partake in are consuming alcohol and smoking. Even the smallest bit of alcohol can have an effect on a person’s body, and overtime can cause permanent damage that they will try to fix with medication. According to the The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism 87.6 percent on people 18 or older said that they had alcohol at some point in their lives, and out that 24.7 percent of people had participated in binge drinking in the past 6 months. All of these individuals may have taken some medication to help their symptoms of drinking. Most people that drink and end up with some sort of hangover will just take a couple of tylenol to help with a headache and other symptoms. It has even become common for persistent drinkers to take some form of antacid to alleviate the bloating in their stomach so that they can continue to drink more.
