As stated before, the FDA has its hands full, with the many areas that they cover, in order to make sure that everyday products are safe for humans and for animals. Every year they pass rules/regulations from cosmetics to food products in order to prevent diseases, allergic reactions, and to overall make sure that they are safe. One area that the FDA heavily regulates is tobacco products. Tobacco products are used by millions of people every day across the country and is an issue that most people feel needs to be dealt with, since using tobacco products causes so many issues when dealing with a person’s health. For the everyday human this new regulation could lead to many great benefits, such as lesser chance of getting lung cancer or heart disease, better health conditions, and keeping it out of reach of younger adults so that they can have healthier lives too. Also, this new regulation can open they eyes of those who already smoke and make them realize the real dangers of what they are doing and make them reconsider what they are doing and change their lifestyle for them benefit of themselves and their families. This type of change is needed because according to the American Cancer Society, around six million people die annually from tobacco products, and 30% of whom die from cancer-related diseases due to smoking (retrieved from http://www.cancer.org/aboutus/globalhealth/tobacco-control). This is a shocking number of people that are dying every year from tobacco related products and this new regulation could be a stepping stone in getting the number reduced in the near future. The new regulation could help the number by putting better warning labels and putting better restrictions on stores that sell them, and if people were to listen to the warnings or see what is them, then people would have to die so …show more content…
In recent years, a new form of smoking has grown in popularity in the United States and it is called vaping using electronic cigarettes or e-cigs for short. While this form is newer it is not immune from the restrictions of the new regulation, and it could have an impact on many small businesses that deal with these e-cigarettes. One such example is Bonnie Butz, who owns a vape shops in Pennsylvania, who might have to close many of his shops as well as many other vape shops owners due to this new law/regulation (retrieved from http://www.mcall.com/business/mc-vaping-tobacco-fda-20160511-story.html).
