Texting has always been a way of life for young adults; being able to send and receive messages in a matter of seconds is revolutionary in itself. However, today’s generation has taken texting to an extreme. Recently, texting while driving has become a growing issue among young adults. Texting while driving is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. Research is key to creating persuasive messages to deter young adults from texting while driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) believed that people who text and drive were more likely to be involved in a car accident. The effects on performance of texting while driving are similar to Driving Under the Influence (DUI). This inhibits an individual judgement skill
