Stereotyping comes in many forms and fashions, first perceptions of things or people, racial or ethnic profiling, or opinions based on incorrect information or simply bad judgement. One advantage of a stereotype is that it enables us to respond rapidly to situations because we may have had a similar experience before. But there are many disadvantages to this issue besides racial or ethnic profiling, it makes us ignore differences between individuals; therefore we think things about people that might not be true, generalizations. Like the old saying, don’t judge a book by its cover.
I view myself as a very detailed, organized, and very ambitious person. Unfortunately all of these characteristics and qualities are either unclear or seem to be unappreciated by my current perspective employers based solely on one simple fact, no prior job experience! There are positions that are entry-level, part time jobs in today’s job market that require no previous work experience but finding the correct job that suits my interest is very difficult. Yes, prior work experience is a key quality to have in the job market because employers feel like the person with prior experience vs. the person with no prior experience will not be up to par with the employer’s standards they have for that certain job title. An advantage is that a lot of the employers take a chance on new employees in today’s job market, simply because they have no bad habits. They are able to train the employees than being able to break habits vs. employees who think they know it all but don’t even know what their job title
