She pulls a cigarette out of the slim red and white packaging and sticks the cigarette into her mouth and continues to do this throughout her day and pregnancy. Smoking is not something good for anyone, especially for her. Smoking while pregnant is not the best idea, but she makes her own choices, whether it may be smoking often or not, but one thing she never thought about was her newborn son or daughter-to-be. Smoking during her first pregnancy caused her son to be born premature and causes her to get shots almost every week so she is not at risk of going into premature labor.
Smoking a pack a day is not an exaggeration in this case. She used to come into work with a plastic smile plastered on her face and a bag from Duke containing a pack of cigarettes and breath mints, by the end of her shift the pack of cigarettes would be half gone. She was not pregnant during this time, but she still has a son who she needs to take care of instead of her craving for cigarettes every half-hour. Now that she is pregnant she still smokes, but the amount of cigarettes smoked have definitely declined since she started using the NicoDerm CQ. She is a great mother and good at taking care of her kids but she does love her cigarettes.

This was not written to bash people who smoke while pregnant, only to open their eyes. Babies’ lungs are still developing during pregnancy and it also is not good for the smokers lungs. Her son has asthma due to her smoking throughout her pregnancy. Her and her little family have been improving because she is currently only smoking two or three cigarettes a day and it use to be a literal pack. It may not be good to smoke while pregnant but at least she is taking steps to better herself and her unborn daughter. She is still trying to quit but started a college fund for her children, in hopes to better their education and
