Should We Ban Cigarette Smoking?

What is the deadliest predator on earth? Is it the "king of the jungle", the lion, who stalks their prey and attacks with might? Could it be the Black Mamba whose bite is the deadliest of the snake kingdom and without anti venom has a one-hundred percent chance of lethality. Rather it is the silent killer, who is in the hands of fifteen percent of adults in the US. This killer claims the life of over 480,000 Americans people every year (USDHSS). Cigarettes, loved and enjoyed by many who are completely aware of its dangers but choose to be oblivious.

Corruption may not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking about cigarettes but cigarettes are shrouded in a dark history of conniving, evil, schemes. Big tobacco companies are corrupting

Having a hobby keeps people occupied thus keeping them happy. It is healthy to be happy and being happy is an overall fantastic feeling. Some can say that smoking cigarettes is a bad pass time but that is unjust. There are completely more violent and horrendous hobbies in the world; from murdering to torturing to toppling governments, there are plenty of worse hobbies. Also, smoking cigarettes can really burn a hole into your pocket and smokers should keep a budget if they want to indulge. Cigarettes come in all types of different forms and range in price but on average cost $8 for a pack. In just a month, smoking only a pack every two days, light smokers spend approximately $120 a month! Heavy smokers, on the other hand, smoke a pack a day resulting in paying double what light smokers spend. By the end of the month some smokers don’t have two pennies to rub together. Some smokers don’t even like the fact that they smoke, and wish it wasn’t so addictive. This just goes to show that even the people who 's leisure time involves smoking wishes that they didn’t. The nicotine in cigarettes is so addictive that it is extremely difficult for someone to stop once they start. If a ban of cigarettes is out of the question, then a ban of nicotine should be enforced.

The social stigma involved in smoking can be a deal breaker in and of itself. There are designated areas for smokers as to not disturb the non smokers. When someone has the urge to smoke they must leave loved ones and friends in order to disturb them. The ingredients in cigarettes are numerous and dangerous and should be clearly printed on the package. Nicotine being the worst of all chemicals involved in cigarette smoking. This ingredient is addictive by nature and added in during the process of tobacco
