Childhood obesity in America According to the center for disease control and prevention, “Over 16 percent of children from six to 19 years of ages are obese.” This means that children eat more unhealthy foods every day. Fast food lovers consume more Fats, carbohydrates, sugars and fewer fruits. Every weekend my Neighbor buy a large pizza for lunch, my neighbor’s mother told that she will buy whatever her kids like. Even though restaurants are the business of making money by making cheap fast foods, children don 't eat healthy food. Children also like drinking sod instead of water which is healthier for them. Obesity can increase the risk of developing diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and orthopedic problems. Childhood obesity is a public concern because obesity is rapidly becoming the most prevalent issue among children. Heathy habits starts from home. For example if parents are cooking for their children healthy meals. There would be no obesity Families’ eating together has become a rarity in America, Due to single parent that are working outside home. Finding time together can be hard, but families should try it. Parents are working long time to provide better lives for their children, but at the same time they should prioritize their children. Parents are the once who make the final purchasing decisions, therefore parents have a direct influence on the types of foods that children eats. Some cultures like my culture take a pride in having fat babies, they believe that when a child gains weight very quickly that it 's a sign of a healthy baby. For instance, my aunts baby girl is a skinny baby, every time people come to visit her, they starts talking about how her baby is not growing well.
