This article is about how South Africa has been hit by a new wave of addiction in the instance, a failure to be separated from a smartphone. They use the word nomophobia stemmed from term, no mobile – phone phobia. It’s a psychological syndrome in which a person is afraid of being out of cell phone contact. In South Africa, a cell phone addiction has been labelled as an obsessive-compulsive disorder by experts.

The journal article is valid and was complete with one of the largest universities in South Africa. The Department of Basic Education and the Gauteng and Western Cape Department of Education supported this project. The news media article and journal article matched in the findings. They both proved that cell phones in relation to youth are a rising wave of addiction. It’s a behavioral addiction with the need of a cell phone and to fit in and remain socially active to stave off loneliness. Their behavior fell in line with other studies conducted with psychologist describing several symptoms of the typical mental disorder known as a cell phone addiction. Symptoms would include users admitting to not being able to focus on almost anything if they did not have their cell phone by their side. Also, not wanting to connect to a charger because their phone would be out of their sight. To determine to make sure they 're finding were reliable, the researchers could have done an interview after the questionnaire to match the responses. Or the researchers could have did a complete observation and watch how the students interacted with their cellular device throughout the day, uninterrupted. The study also didn’t state if the students knew what the questionnaire was about and why they were taking it.
