Breastfeeding is something that is essential to a woman’s health as well as her child’s. Breastfeeding is an act that should be looked at as something natural world wide. However, when it is done publically is when it becomes an issue. Some countries don’t have as many problems as the citizens of the United States do with woman breastfeeding in public. In the article “Is the Breast Better?” , Elizabeth Vargas says, “America has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates of any industrialized country. When we think of breast we think of them as sexual objects, or desires. However, what people don’t realize is that breast are an erogenous area along with the ears, lips, necks, etc. Many articles have said that public nursing can be dangerous and an easy way for an assault to happen. Statements like that are highly disturbing because why are we stopping the woman from doing something she has to do because a man might not have self-control. A mother breastfeeding her child in public shouldn’t make a man want to jump on her. That’s exactly why people need to understand that there are more to boobs than just sexual content. Women fought hard for their rights, breastfeeding in public should be considered a woman 's right. Taking this away from a woman is not only taking away from her but from her child as well. The truth of the matter is, we all need to eat because we are all humans. Whether it be an adult, senior citizen, teenager, child, or infant. We all have the right to eat in public. An infant eating in public off of their mother’s breast should not stir up as much controversy as it has. Women should be able to go anywhere they please and feed there baby without getting harassed.
