In the United States more than 88,000 people die of alcoholism disease annually. It’s the third leading lifestyle related cause of death in America. With this disease they don’t realize the damage they could cause to them and others. It states drinking is a “ choice” and a “ want”. Definitely not a need. The term Alcoholism means the excessive of drinking alcohol beverages which later starts a alcohol dependence. Therefore, the body has to have it inside of them. It’s not a drug, but some people say it is because they think they can’t live without it. It sure does sound terrible but, there is medications for it. Sadly alcohol most of the times destroys them. One little argument or disagreement with a family member or friends can go from a grape size to a watermelon size problem. The cause of this is to the affection of the quantity alcohol they have in them. Then once the alcohol kicks in they feel they have extreme power. This is when they find any little thing to fight about. Their adrenalin is to high. They always end up doing something crazy or violent. For example in one of my digital notes based on the article, “ProQuest Staff. "At Issue: Alcoholism."they say, “ Alcohol abuse takes a huge toll on society, through automobile crashes, crime (especially violent crimes), child and spousal abuse, reduced workplace productivity and illness.” Many cases in San Antonio Tx, have been on women abuse and its from men with alcoholism disease. The effects of the person will be angry, sad, and aggressive. They don’t want to be with family just with the people who also drink excessively. Many people try to stop but, the solution is critical. Legislators and judges have come up with this solution of license suspension, ignition locks, and vehicle impoundment. This was a result of keeping this alcoholics from their vehicles but not from their drinking habits. This is why they made a “ 24/7 sobriety “ cure. Which they are in court order not to drink, every morning or evening must visit a police facility to take a breathalyzer test. This would go up to 5 months. If they drink they will be suffering the consequences of being arrested or in jail. Which i thought this was a brilliant idea. Schools are trying to have classes to persuade students not to drink or just to limit it. Main reason is to not go to the level of alcoholism disease. Alcoholisms sometimes don’t need professional help. Some people don't have the money to get professional help. Therefore they must try their best to stop drinking. Doctors say it's better to have someone there just watching them in order not to drink one
