Rainsford standing looking down knowing he can sleep tonight. The next morning he went to go to look for Whitney. Rainsford walked to the forest with a knife and a gun to protect himself. Also, food to eat. He walked into the forest where he walked when he was hunted by
Zaroff. He had been walking for two hours or so and it started to get dark. He could hear the wind blowing through the trees. Just then he heard the bushes shaking like cheerleaders shaking pom poms. Rainsford grabbed for his knife. As he grabbed his knife he saw a figure standing there looking at him. Rainsford looked up to see that it was Whitney standing there.
“I thought we’d never find you,” said Whitney looking at the knife in Rainsfords hand.

As they walked back they told each other about the past few days that they weren't together.
Rainsford did not mention what happened with Zaroff. When they got to the shore the boat was sitting where Rainsford brought himself to shore when he fell of the boat. He was greeted by all the crew on the boat.
“Where have you been for the past few days,” said one “did you jump off the boat to kill yourself.” “No.” said Rainsford.
“Then what happened” said another.
“ I fell off the boat when i heard a noise and dropped my pipe into the water.”
“Well we should get going if we want to make it back before they think we got lost at sea.”
“Alright you heard him on the boat.” said whitney.
As the crew got on the boat Whitney stopped Rainsford.
“Are you alright you look down?” questioned Whitney.
“I will tell you on the boat,” replied Rainsford, “we have to go.”
On the way home rainsford explained what happened. When they got home one of the members from the crew told the newspaper what happened.
When Rainsford got home he sat down. As soon as he sat down he heard a knock at the door.
He stood up and went to the door. He opened the door and it was from the newspaper
