Dance is one of the oldest forms of communication. In the diverse world that we live in with language barriers and discrimination, dance has been, and always will be an effective form of nonverbal interaction and expression. In this paper, I will discuss the importance of the dance industry. I will break it down into the following components: the history of dance, the industry size, highlights of various jobs and roles, financial components, major players in the industry, technology, political and social conflicts in dance, current issues affecting dance, and finally, the future of dance.

History of Dance
It is predicted that dance has been around for over 9,000 years. Dance has been traced back to cave paintings in India. Looking back through the 9,000 years of dance, you can see the evolution and development of where we are today. Originally in Egypt, dance was used for religious ceremonies to tell stories. During the European Renaissance dance took on a new level, inventing new styles of dance. According to Dancefacts.net,

“Modern dance history in Europe started with Renaissance, when many new dances were invented.
