First, The Daily Tar Heel is not trash. I have worked in many newsrooms and I can say there is a decent effort on the news side to fully tell readers what is happening in Chapel Hill. Is every single story perfectly covered? By all means no. But honestly, I have yet to be part of an organization in which a story is done to perfection (this includes the Carolina Connection radio program, which I helped lead for one semester).
As for the opinion page, Sam pointed out it does lean more left, and he is correct in saying that (though to be fair, there have been visible efforts this year to increase the page's political diversity). Finally, as for my relationship with Frank, I am not going to air my grievances against/dirty laundry on him. We both have different interpretations of our relationship, and I think it would be petty, sophomoric and not worth my time on Earth to lay out my personal interpretation of conversations we had. It is a personal matter and should remain as such for the benefit of both of us. I will say I'm happy about the path I chose to take as a student, and think I benefited incredibly by joining the DTH as well as becoming a more serious journalist.
