High School Vision Essay

Schools exist in this world to be a guide post for our future generations. The current vision statement at Palatka High school is, “We will create an environment of high expectations and support so that students may be successful in post-secondary studies, career, and military.” Without the help and support of a strong school and its leaders some of our students would ever be able to succeed in life. With this in mind it is important to remember that we need to focus on building our teachers and staff to be the best they can possibly be. In a perfect world the school vison would include sections that discuss what the educator looks like and what the steps would be to get them there. If we want our students to be able to become lifelong learners we have to put in the time and effort it takes to create them. The community of the school is what will make or break this concept. A clearly defined vision that is in alignment with a logical mission statement is essential in the development of attainable goals. Clear and concise communication about school goals must be consistent and resolute. As noted in the article, What Makes or Breaks a Principal, "The most effective principals operate from a value system that places high priority on people and relationships. The principal 's person -to-person relationships reverberate throughout the school culture" (Donaldson et al, 2009). Consistency in communication, actions, and relational skills are critical to establishing a positive school…

The Paramount Issues of High School What assets, features, and rules would the perfect high school have? In Leon Botstein’s article Let Teenagers Try Adulthood, Botstein calls out the issues of modern high school and claims that high school needs to be completely reinvented, offering many ideas as to how schools can better the education and experiences of their students such as having teenagers graduate at sixteen and ending harmful high school culture. Although Botstein makes some good points, the most important issues that need to be corrected to make American high schools more ideal are hiring more caring teachers, removing cliques and social class, and letting teenagers have more responsibility. Teachers are to schools what blood is to the body; schools cannot be schools without them.…

Staff and pupils should reflect a school’s ethos in their attitude, there should be a positive atmosphere and people should take pride in their surroundings and be happy with the way the leaning takes place. Mission- or Motto, is the schools intention as set out by the Head Teacher it will also overlap with the values, vision and aims…

When the new superintendent demonstrated a collaborative leadership style by forming a Principal interview team that included both veteran and new teachers to choose the new principal, it well-received; therefore, as the new principal, following through with a similar collaborative style would likely be successful. In my perspective, the principal needs to develop a strategic plan that creates a shared vision and goals with a variety of stakeholders, provides professional development for the staff to achieve those goals, and reaches into the community to develop partnerships and positive relationships.…

Two of the Effective Educator Goals that I have chosen to provide rationale on are, Manages & Motivates and Reflects on Practice. I feel very strongly that most students, when given a positive, encouraging, and nurturing learning environment, can motivate themselves to be socially interactive and engaged in their own education. When students see your positive energy, feel your desire to learn, and know they are an asset to your classroom; most often will put forth the effort to be an active participant. I have had differentiated environments to meet the needs of certain individuals to promote a supportive and meaningful environment that was conducive to learning.…

Prompt 1: Which dystopian vision of the future became the more accurate vision? I believe 1984 became the more accurate version because of its similarities with 2017 in social structure, technology, and its society as a whole. Their similarities in social structure consist of of having classes from lowest to greatest such as proles, the party, and big brother. All of which are similar to our classes of lower class, middle class, and upper class. The proles are considered to be the average everyday people living in society which to us is our lower and middle class while the party is the high ranking officials and politicians that have a say in what the nation does is similar to our 1%, the upper class with big brother being the head of the nation.…

Why a Written Communication Policy? Communication is essential for any organization to be successful, especially in education (National School Public Relations Association, 2006). The flow of communication between the school superintendent, local school board, teachers, students, parents and community, must be transparent with written policies in place that are accessible (National School Public Relations Association, 2006). A school communications policy should be carefully written with direction on the purposes, plans and objectives how the school will communicate with each of the stakeholders (Moore, 2012).…
