The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime

The text that I chose was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, the reason for this was in the beginning of the semester the class had to choose one book that pertained to their field of study. I am a psychology major so what pertained my field was human services and the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime demonstrated this. I wanted to learn more about autism because I never really understood what it was and how it affected someone’s way of thinking and way of perceiving of the world. The way the book was written seemed unorganized but this was to describe how personal the character, Christopher, wanted to be. It was easy to pace myself because I tried to separate the pages into sections. I was able to keep up with the sections because I tried to get ahead, but still understand what is going on in the story and I did this by seeing how much I had read in each week and made sure I was on the page I assigned myself. Since the character did not realize that there was an issue unless someone told him directly that I had to infer what was going on in the story, for example, when one of his neighbors was trying to tell him that his mother had an affair and so Mr. Shears had left and his father was angry with the guy. I should have taken notice to any shift that were happening in the story so that it could be easier to see when the story has changed to a different
