No matter where we are raised, a common theme can be found in each society. Whether it be the family, place of religion, work environment, or the country we live in; there will always be culture involved in each. Culture can be defined as “ …the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place or time” (Merriam-Webster). We unconsciously add to our culture as each generation passes. The culture of the United States has evolved over the past 100 years, and will continue to evolve with time. In the United States we have a republic and many other countries practice dictatorship. The US elected officials decide the laws, with US residents being allowed to vote as well, while in a dictatorship one elected official decides the laws. An example of a dictatorship would be Hitler’s rule in Germany. Because the Unites States culture has been a republic we are used to having somewhat of a say in the governing of laws, while other countries are accustomed to “whatever is said, goes”. Each form of government is a culture because we have been molded into these customs and beliefs since we were born. Our government structures can be defined as a way of life as well as religion. I am a Caucasian female living in the United States. In my town there are many African Americans and Hispanics. Because I am not of the African American culture I do not know how they are raised, but I can imagine it is different than how I was raised. The culture of diversity is among everyone. African Americans tend to attract those of the same race as them, while whites attract the same race, and so on. We are all taught different values based on our race because of the way society has decided they would be. Our diverse cultures have shaped us to be who we
