CSX Mission Statement to Website Analysis

According to missionstatement.com CSX aims “to be the safest, most progressive North American railroad, relentless in the pursuit of customer and employee excellence.” This statement is also directly stated prominently on the CSX website in their about me phase. After careful analysis of the CSX homepage, I believe this company reflects these values throughout their about us section of their webpage. This is because after breaking down the mission statement into its various parts, I have found each section to be prominently featured on the page.

The first section of the mission statement states they want to be” the safest”. CSX has devoted a separate section in their about me page to Safety. They detail their commitment to the safety of both customers and their employees. For consumers, the company states that they work with various law enforcement agencies and enact programs and training to protect the products that they deliver every day. For employees, CSX states that they encourage each employee to act with their safety and the safety of others in mind. The company also lists a number for nonemergency contact and emergency contact. CSX has several projects in place to research not only to provide better service, but to also lesson the company’s carbon footprint. They are searching for ways to increase fuel efficiency and clean air. They also point out the advantages of shipment through rail, providing faster delivery at a better fuel efficiency.
