The Crusaders: A Short Story

After about a half of an hour, we reached the hill and arrived to a village. The village is enormous, with a whole group of people. The brick shacks surrounded the church in the middle like farms surrounding a farm house. Trees are twice the height as the houses. People walking back and forward in a hurry way. Animals grazing at a wide green grass plain. But when we come closer, I see something different. Houses are tore with only a few bricks on the roof. Trees are dried without fruit. People walking in hurry are depressing, and with rage. Animals grazing on grasses are gaunt, with scars.

“Who are the Men of the Jews,” I asked. “They are Jews men that volunteer to fight for the Jews. Most of their family are killed by antisemites, so you can see their rage against the antisemites.”
After lunch, we went to the church. hundred or more of men came. Uncle Andrew standing in front, “Good afternoon Men of the Jews. My little friend here has a trouble. His friend was captured by the Crusaders. I am sure you guys will be interested at this war, because our opponent are the Crusaders. Now let’s let our little friend introduce himself with you all.”
I walked up to the stage and explained myself, where I came from, why am I here, and my friend Katherine. Many of them seem to pay attention to my speech, feeling the same way as I do.
With the conclusion, I said, “ So, I hope you all, the Men of the Jews can give a support to me. We will save my friend and wipe out the Crusaders.”
All of them clapped, they all agreed.
Commander Andrew walk back up to the stage, “So now, we have to make plan for the rescue. We will take it to tonight. At night, there will be fog, so the guards won’t be able to see us. At that time, we will attack with arson. We’ll burn their castle. When they open the gate, we will rush in, and at that moment, one of us will sneak through the rush of soldiers and go save Katherine. Who will do

We hide behind the tall, wild bushes. The guards of the castle didn’t seem to notice us. We waited for a while. When the moon began rises, sky darken, fog fully covered, owls awaken, Commander Andrew sent us the signal. “Fire,” I yelled.
The Men of the Jews raised the bows, pulled out their arrows, ignited it with fire, put it in the bow, pulled, aimed, and fired. With the fog, it seems like hundreds of shooting stars racing across the sky, and land right into the castle. As we are shooting arrows after arrows, the fire in the castle also increased. Finally, the gate opened. A whole group of our men rush to the gate. “Attack. Attack.”
The Men of the Jews rushed in and killing Crusaders one after one. Soldiers yelling and screaming. Blood appeared with the fog as it seems like blood evaporated into fog. It seem like the Crusaders know Alex is going to get in, the Crusaders guard the front gate and Alex can’t find a chance. Alex try to sneak in on the side. He ran to the left of the castle and ready to climb up the window. But then, ten Crusaders broken out from the window. They ran to Alex. One stab, and then another stab, and then another. The whole group of Jews stopped for that moment. Without any defence, Alex fell on the

In 1095 at the Council of Clermont in France, Pope Urban II gave a speech that would affect the church for many years to come. He declared that church was going to try and get the Holy Land back from the Seljuk Turks in battles that would be known as the Crusades. Since the mid-seventh century, the Muslims had controlled the Holy Land and had prevented Catholics from entering Jerusalem to make pilgrimages. The Catholics saw gaining the Holy Land back as a sacred duty because the Muslims were seen to be “enemies of Christ”. “Deus lo Volt”, which means God wills it, was chanted after hearing the Pope’s speech and soon became the motto for these wars.…
