The Crucible was written in 1952 by Arthur Miller. Five years before the book was written the Cold War has begun. The state of the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union was dreadful. This is because both of these nations had different ideas on how to run their countries. The United States did not like the idea of government having total control over their own citizens and did not like the idea of having the Soviet Union spreading communism around the world.
