Abigail’s Soliloquy – Spiteful Thoughts

Abigail Ugh Elizabeth! Are you this invulnerable? Is killing you that difficult? You should be grateful that my uncle interrupted last night’s witchcraft. Now it is causing me trouble! Just wait for it you sickly woman, just because I didn’t get you this time, doesn’t mean I will withdraw.
Yes, yes, I know, the witchery was actually my idea. I mean I was in the spirit for it. Besides, I was just trying to revenge and fight back for what I rightfully deserve. Is that wrong?

How unfair and ridiculous that my accusation actually benefitted her? You worthless Negro slave! All these comfort, protection, blessings and honorable words, they don’t belong to you. They’re mine and I am going to take them back!
After hearing Tituba confesses who she saw with the devil, Abigail raises her head abruptly, as though she realized something.
Actually… this is a perfect opportunity to confess and avert the authorities away from my guilt and wrongdoing. Since they are so focused on Tituba and the people she saw with the devil, they won’t really pay too much attention on me, and so I will be able take advantage of this and avoid trouble and punishments. Even though in reality, I didn’t see anyone with the devil, I will pretend as if I have and name random innocent inhibitors of Salem to direct attention towards them and push them the blame.
Abigail rises, staring as though inspired, and cries out.
