The crucible is based on the witch trials that went on in Salem, Massachusetts in the late 1600’s. This story shows how superstitious people were back then, what their beliefs were, and how they talked.
In Salem, Massachusetts placed in the year 1690, A couple of girls where in the woods dancing by the fire and “conjuring spirits.” One of the girls named Abigail was conjuring spirits to kill John Proctors wife Elizabeth. The girls were caught by Mr.Parris who was a reverend of a church in salem. After this event the girls fall very i’ll and the doctor can’t figure out what was wrong with them. So Mr.Putnam claims it’s witchcraft that has caused them to be ill. So Abigail and the girls are accusing other people of witchcraft and testifying
