A person’s reputation is serious in a town where social standing is fixed to one's ability to take after religious principles. Throughout the play The Crucible, reputation meant a lot to some people. A person’s name is the main way one can get other individuals to work with that them, have respect for, and even believe whether what that individual says is a truth or just a lie. John Proctor is one of the main characters in the play that worries about his name and reputation and wants to be known for continuously does the right thing.
