Elia Kazan’s testimony was the direct cause of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. Miller even went as far to send Kazan a manuscript of The Crucible to which Kazan responded that he would be honored to direct such a powerful piece. Miller wrote back, “I didn’t send it to you because I wanted you to direct it. I sent it to you because I want you to know what I think of stool-pigeons, “a man doesn’t have to be an informer” (Miller, Brater 60).
