Abigail Williams can be described as a deceitful and manipulative character that has an affair with John Proctor and would do anything to protect her and John, Abigail would never play around when it came to getting in trouble or ruining her chances with John Proctor. It seems that Abigail thinks that lying is one thing to get her through life without consequences, she figures that she could avoid getting in trouble by making up stories to cover up her practicing witch craft. Abigail was a housekeeper for John and Elizabeth Proctor for a short time. Elizabeth Proctor, who is completely opposite from Abigail and who is also married to John Proctor, was a good Christian woman who attended church every Sunday and was very loyal to her husband.

Abigail wants John all to herself she wants Elizabeth gone and out of John’s life, so she will do anything she can to make that happen. Abigail wanted to accuse Elizabeth of being a witch she knows that anyone would believe her because she’s done it before. So she did. Elizabeth had stabbed herself at dinner one night and claims that it was Elizabeth’s spirit. Without a doubt, there is some level of credit she earns on this point, but at the same time there was some reasons why their marriage endured some struggles. Elizabeth is very honest, but does lie to protect her husband. Elizabeth didn’t have a lot of negative traits; you could say she doesn’t have any. She was a woman of her word, all though she told one small lie, but to only protect her husband. She didn’t trust anyone who ever did her wrong. On the other hand Abigail is completely different.
