Salem, Massachusetts on 1692. The Salem Witch Craft hunt is when woman and a couple of men were falsely accused of being witches. If you denied being a witch you would be hung immediately, but if you admitted you were a witch you would have to spend time in jail. People admitted of being witches knowing that they were not witches, just so they would not get hung. The result to that situation lead to an outcome of hundreds of people being accused and 20 people dead. This tragic event effected lots of people. One person it harshly effected was John Proctor. John Proctor was a farmer in his mid 30’s, who had a wife named Elizabeth Proctor. John Proctors mindset was “act like an idiot and he 's going to call you an idiot”,. Proctor was a truthful man who hated fake people. John Proctor throughout the play mainly showed how he was angry, confident, and courageous. John Proctor was a angry man. Proctor was angry because Cheever (police officer) and Hale (witch expert) wanted to take his wife Elizabeth Proctor, who was being accused of witchcraft, to court. This all started because Abigail Williams, who had an affair with John Proctor, stabbed herself with a needle and accused Elizabeth for having something to do with it.
