The Cross Symbol of Peace

Our Christian living depends on having the peace of God and showing love to

one another. Paul encourages the Colossians to love and forgive one another.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering. Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. If anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do. But above all things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful” Colossians 3:12-15 NKJV). In this scripture, Paul gave some practical advice to the Colossians church. Among other

things, he told them to forbear one another, This is to put up with things they may dislike

and get along with those who disagree with them. This is still one of the struggles we face

in the church today. It is my way or the high-way. But the power that the cross of Jesus

brought to the lives of believers, enabled us to be forbearing, meek, forgiving and long-

suffering towards one another.

In the New Testament, Paul played a great part in advocating peace among believers.

In his epistles he listed activities which are important to manifest the peace of God. I

am glad that God used him to pen these trues on how believers must live their lives to
