The Crimes Of Genghis Khan

Members of the jury, we have been called today by Lady Justice to try the war crimes of Genghis Khan, leader of the Mongol Empire. Genghis Khan and his descendants were uncivilized conquerors and rulers in the 13th and 14th centuries and are being tried for crimes against humanity. Genghis Khan began his conquests in the late 1100s—the prosecution cannot pinpoint the exact year as his campaigns and skirmishes are too numerous to count—and continued on his campaign of terror until his death. After his death, Genghis Khan’s children and grandchildren continued their subjugation of lands across Asia and Eastern Europe, spreading the particular brand of Mongol terror around the globe. Many would excuse Khan’s behavior, justifying it because of …show more content…
The population of China plummeted by 10 million during Khan’s life-time. It is estimated that he is responsible for reducing the entire world population by 11 percent. Any sane person would call this genocide. Wherever the Mongols went and conquered, Genghis Khan or his generals would give soldiers a quota of people to kill. Not only did the Mongols slaughter thousands upon thousands on the battle field, they murdered millions of innocent civilians. Often times, Khan cared not that the Mongols were victorious—Genghis Khan simply wanted revenge, simply wanted to sear in his victory. And thus the senseless slaughter ensued, and millions upon millions of people …show more content…
Make no mistake, he exacted revenge in large proportions. Originally, he had no intention to conquer Khwarazmian Empire, but after the Shah killed Mongol ambassadors, Genghis Khan was set on revenge. He would have no mercy. The Mongols invaded Khwarazmia from 1219-1221. During that time, almost three fourths if the population of modern-day Iran perished. Khan justified his vengeful rampages, stating that, “If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.” Clearly, Genghis Khan is a cruel criminal bent on revenge. Jury, Genghis Khan has, to put it lightly, disrupted the peace, destroyed lives and property, raped, pillaged, and murdered millions. Genghis Khan is not some hero who united vast amounts of land. He is not a man worthy of our praise. He is a war criminal who deserved punishment. Let justice be served, and convict Khan, the

Good old ‘Uncle Joe’ should not be remembered as such, and if he is, he should also be remembered as a man who destroyed his own country from the inside. Both men, Hitler and Stalin, have committed crimes against humanity, and essentially changed the world and its way of thinking, and so they should serve as a reminder. People that didn’t follow his rules would’ve been killed and executed leading to people fearing him and allowing him to expand without disagreement. The Mongols treated the people very poorly and were very cruel. In Document 5, it shows the image of a marksman executing a prisoner. If you read the caption, it says, “Others are being buried alive upside-down.” This shows that they are extremely barbaric because of how they are treating and executing their people. People should not be being buried upside-down and the others in the background should be defending their people.…

The U.S. convicted Adolf of mass murder, but didn 't get to him so Earle Rice Jr. states in his book by writing, " Hitler 's fleeing to the Alps would divert the soviet troop and allow some two million Berliners to leave the city and escape having to fight the soviets in the streets." In document two, it says that in battles, if one man ran away the whole group of men would be put to death. This document may have some exaggerations because it was written from the point of view of an outsider who could’ve been surprised because he was the first European to visit the Mongol homeland. The Mongols also took the fact of the people they killed, melted it and catapulted it on their houses, which shows barbarism because those acts are cruel and inhuman. (Doc 3) Documents 4 and 5 show evidence of barbarism because they talk about how the Mongols killed entire cities, even cats and dogs, and how they also buried people alive upside and down. The Mongols showed their savage-like ways in document 10 because it said drunkenness was considered an honorable act.…

Clearly, this shows that the Mongols used barbaric tactics not only because they were very effective at taking down cities and fortresses (shown as they were able to conquer much of Asia with this method), but also strike fear into their enemies, as the Mongols killed most, if not all, of the survivors of the siege. This brutality is shown no easier than in Document 4. According to Ata-Malik Juvaini, the Mongols laid waste to the Persian city of Nishapur in 1221. Killing everything in city, even pets. Then they severed the heads from the dead bodies and piled them up, keeping the men separate from the women and children.…
