Guyanas crime rate has begun to rise in the past decade from reading multiple articles on the topic, that is why they are begging to implement SWAT teams and other special forces in their department. A YouTube channel by HGPTV (Channel16 Cable67) with the video being named, Guyana Crime Rate has increased talks about, how the murders aren’t just simple murders happening. These are execution type murders taking place in the streets of Guyana. Guyana has been getting better about making there Police force steady and more educated about the problem of corruption. But, we are humans some have better morals than others but we all make mistakes. Guyana still has a big problem with being corrupt in the drug trade and the gangs. But not only is there a lot of drug trade, I was watching a show on the discovery channel called Gold Rush and they have a lot of gold and diamond mining there as well; which is a huge industry. There are a lot of situations where officials of the force were doing illegal trades and seizures due to the value of the outcome. They were seizing peoples gold and money for their own benefit. A video called “Police Allegedly took Bribes To Give Cocaine Minibus Safe Conduct”, listed by HGPTV (Channel16 Cable67), this police officer took a huge bribe of releasing a large amount of cocaine through a minibus. The commissioner of the area force says, “ They are trying to have this matter resolved as quickly as possible by bringing prosecution to all parties involved in the matter, including the superintendent of police”. The estimated value of the cocaine they recovered that the officer was moving is around 17 million dollars. The officers that stopped the bus and took the bride admitted to accepting the payment of 500,000 dollars for letting them go, or continue
