The Credibility Of Drinking Water In The Polar Regions

The Polar Regions are too cold to support a variety of life. However, scientists have discovered life forms that thrive in this cold environment, and they term the polar oceans as important in maintaining a balance on earth. The amount of water frozen in these regions can be destructive if melted nod released to the warm waters. The McMurdo station is a destination for many scientists to conduct their studies on the waters and the life forms that survive in the cold environment (Nold, 2002). However, that stations fecal waste management is posing a threat to the organisms living in water as well as to the scientists themselves. The station releases the water into a point not far away from drinking water inlet. However, it is only adequate if the sample collected represents the characteristics of the whole population to make the generalization of data valid. The scheme could be modified to include the waters in a given distance (for example two kilometers into the sea) to show sharp contrasts in the presence of bacteria in the water.
