The creation of the Keystone XL Pipeline is an issue that has become the subject of national debate for the past couple of years. On one hand, there are those that believe it should be built because of its economic benefits. On the other hand, there are those who are against its creation because of the environmental damage it could cause and the communities it could ruin. Because of how divided people are over its creation, President Barack Obama has had to address the issue several times as well as make big decisions about it. Recently, on November 6th, 2015 Obama made a statement regarding the Keystone XL Pipeline. Although this may appear to be just a normal presidential address, I think it is a speech that is worthy of scholarly attention …show more content…
The rhetoric she uses seems to represent a lot of things that are significant to her audience because it speaks to their minds. Whenever I am at a dance party with a lot of girls and a Lady GaGa song comes on, there is a certain energy that sparks within them that differs from the other artists that are played. This energy comes from what Lady GaGa and her rhetoric means to her audience. You do not get that same reaction to the other newer artists and that’s because they aren’t using the same rhetoric as Lady GaGa which has guaranteed her popularity for what it represents.
The final reason why I express interest in studying Lady GaGa’s rhetoric is because of its distinctiveness. There are many other pop artists who are similar to Lady GaGa in terms of sound and style, but they don’t seem to gain as much attention as her. This is because Lady GaGa’s rhetoric stands out in originality compared to the others. If a reference were made to Lady GaGa in a movie or TV show it would be very easily recognizable while if someone like Taylor Swift was referenced not everyone would get it.
