Ethics Case Analysis There are many factors that must be considered in the case of “The Cover-Up.” These factors include the facts and issues, the stakeholders, decision alternatives, real-world constraints or limitations, a utilitarian analysis, a Kantian ethics analysis, and a Rawlsian justice analysis. By discussing these factors we can better understand the case and the potential outcomes from making any one decision. We will discuss each of these factors in the following sections.

In analyzing the first option nothing truly gets solved. If you quit your job and still keep silent everything stays the same. The company still would issue the stock option without being completely honest with the shareholders and investors. You would probably still even lose sleep because of the decisions that were made when you could have done something. The only thing that changes is that it is no longer your job or responsibility to do anything, but ethically, you still have the obligation to look out for those at risk.
Now if we analyze our second option we come across several potential outcomes that would affect the situation. By keeping your job you remain in a position of power where you can influence the situation. By whistleblowing you start by telling the board of directors. Ideally they will listen to you and will help you in your decision. If they do not help you out do something about the situation, you go to the EPA and the media.
