In the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas, the main character Edmond Dantes, an innocent sailor, is imprisoned in the Chateau D’If. Set during the Napoleonic era in revolutionary France, Edmond Dantes is thrown in jail for being accused of being a bonapartist. After being in confinement for fourteen years, Dantes finally breaks free by disguising himself as a neighboring jaimate. Dantes’s first move after getting out of jail is getting back at those who wronged him. Edmond Dantes is plotting revenge against the four people and villains Caderousse, Danglars, Villefort, and Fernand, all while going by the alias; The Count of Monte Cristo. Dantes’s vengeance against these villains is proven justified FINISH THESIS.
