Since time immemorial, human beings have always been occupied with the desire to advance themselves in technology and make their lives easier. To a large extent, mankind has made great strides in making its life a lot easier and bearable than it used to be in the past. Right from the cradle of mankind, the living souls constantly experimented with new technological advancement methods that each generation marveled at. Then came the 20th century and technological advancement possibly hit its peak with the discovery of the computer and the internet.
Since then, communication has become faster; commuting has become more efficient; the world is now richer; and generally, life has become a lot easier for a lot of people. Danelek (2010) writes that it is difficult to imagine our world today without computers. He adds that today, of course, they are everywhere and we have become so dependent upon them that many people almost feel naked without one. For some, they even provide the very means of maintaining a livelihood: we use them to keep track of our finances, write books, design logos and sell real estate, Denelek concludes.
Nevertheless, technology is a double-edged sword and strikes both ways. Thus, despite its numerous benefits to mankind, it also has a lot of disadvantages.
