Colleges have been deemed institutions for high learning that value the students and their educations. In recent years colleges have completely disregarded the once high value of education. By doing so students are no longer students but walking cash cow that business like colleges can easy pounce on. As seen with almost all colleges and postsecondary education institutions in America the rise of tuition and fees is directly related to the increase of demand for college degrees. The cost of tuition has increased 12 fold since the 1980s (Jamrisko and Kolet 1). With the average cost of tuition settled at a whopping thirty thousand dollars a year, most people struggle to even think about where to begin when it comes to paying for college. The high cost of college tuition and lower family income make a lethal combination. Many students get part time jobs or use scholarships to pay for college; however, in all the number one way to pay for tuition is loans. Currently, graduates leave college set to spend over half of their lives paying off their college loans and debt acquired during their time at college. This debt that is acquired soon becomes the sole reason that people work, not to build their lives and make a better tomorrow for the next generation, but to relieve the stress that came with achieve a degree. At least that is how it should be. Unfortunately, because graduates leave college with so much debt, when they enter the workforce their focus is on paying off their debt versus managing their money appropriately. With their focus solely on paying off their debt and other bills, graduates get caught in a cycle of financial irresponsibility. This irresponsibility is then projected to the children of these graduates later in life. Stuck in debt these people have forgotten to prepare for the future, which leaves them their children with no college fund or savings. These children fall victim to society’s idea of having to get a degree, just like their parents which propels them into the cycle of debt and financial irresponsibility all over
