The Cost Of Cloning Pets

Improved Essays
Animals are being cloned at a faster rate than ever, but is it really okay? People cloning pets has become a more common thing, and with better technology, more people are doing it, but how safe is it? Cloning comes with costs and doesn’t always work. I think pets should not be cloned because it cost too much to clone, they might come out with health problem, and not everyone agrees with it ethically.

So how much does cloning pets really cost? Cloning pets might cost as much as $100,000. Even with all that money you still don’t have a 100% chance of getting your pet back. Instead of cloning the pet you could always stick with taxidermy which is a lot less and you get to keep your pet, it’s also a lot less controversial. Pet owners pay a lot for the needs of animals and getting it taxidermied is a good way to save money.

Even if you get your pet back, you still won’t have your pet back. A lot of people don’t think this is the right thing to do and is disturbing nature.

Due to shorter life spans you’ll lose that pet even faster and that would be twice as traumatizing and send you back into a state of sadness or put you in a lot of stress. Dogs who live about 10 years would now only live about 5 years. The clones pet will only be able to satisfy you for a little and might not even come out the same. A substitute cloned pet is no better than your real taxidermied one that you can keep for all time.

In the end, we know that cloning isn’t the right thing to do and there are other ways to get over our grief. Cloning may be the normal in the future, but for now we should reach out and get other pets. Just imagine how many pounds are filled with dogs waiting for you. As we’ve learned the cloning of pets has so many more negatives than positives, so now you should know what to do if your pet dies. Cloning pets is expensive, unethical, and might cause pain to your pets, don't do

Now scientists have used this process of somatic cell nuclear transfer to create clones of nearly 20 different species of animals Scientists do not see a reason to clone humans Instead they plan to use this knowledge to further their studies in stem cell therapy, for example they would use a patient's cells to create an embryo and then they could see how that patient's disease will affect them over time by comparing it to the embryo Dolly lived her entire life at the Roslin Institute until she was put down She had been battling with arthritis and eventually was diagnosed with lung disease Since Dolly was put down at age six and the average life span of her breed is 10-11 years this validated many people’s fears that clones would not live as long as humans Dolly also had four other “sisters” who suffered very similar fates that she did However the Roslin institute is nowhere near done studying this process, in fact they are still in the process of examining the organs and tissue to understand how these animals age Currently Dolly the sheep is on display at the National Museum of…

This application of cloning does not relate to dogs only, but to all animals which can be considered to be pets.
