Every religion accounts for a story of creation and each is unique in its own way. In Judeo-Christian beliefs, there are two creation accounts which are distinct and describe how God created the earth, nature and mankind. Both creation accounts are found in the book of Genesis with a specific name for each. The cosmocentric account which describes how god created the heavens and earth in seven days and the anthropocentric account which allots for the creation of mankind and how the earth was populated. Both share many differences as well as similarities which make them of equal importance and relevance. The first account seen in the book of Genesis is the cosmocentric account which tells how God created the world by bringing peace and order to an “evil” and “dark” place. God’s purpose was to organize this evil place and bring principles allowing for sustainability. In this account, God practices a pattern in which he creates earth as known in the present for six days, resting on the seventh. On the first day, he creates light to make night and …show more content…
It is described that god generates man from “the dust of Earth” and the biblical figure of Adam is brought about. As the story continues, he creates the Garden of Eden and a female companion for Adam. The fall of Adam and Eve follows this creation account. Though it is not part of the account particularly, it is relevant to its importance. This part of the bible conveys mankind’s desire to challenge and rival god, when Eve is tempted by the serpent to take a bite of the fruit and gain knowledge of good and evil. Both Adam and Eve were clearly warned by God to not eat fruit from the tree of knowledge, and the serpents offering was exactly from there. Since Adam and Eve faced the possibility of gaining knowledge of evil, this connects to the first creation account, that evil already existed in the

In the story of Creation and Fall from Genesis, the main characters of Adam and Eve gain wisdom through the realization of sin which Eve exposes by eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and Adam later uncovers by eating the same fruit that Eve tempts him with. The unrest that follows their eating of this fruit was avoidable, for God had warned the first two people on Earth that eating this particular fruit would mean what he described as “death.” Although this fate was a bit more dramatic than the actual fate the main characters faced in the end, that does not mean that the anxiety that was caused directly by the wisdom of sin was any less real. Due to this realization, God punishes the two main characters and the future of mankind with awful consequences such as pain in childbirth, the promise of work until death and the condemnation of the serpent as an enemy to all of human kind. As a follower of the Catholic religion, this story is one that really drives home the point that wisdom is not at all the cause of happiness and peace like it is popularly made out to be.…

There are two key components of human nature expressed in the book of Genesis. Genesis 1-2 addresses the beginning, when man was created, and more specifically created in the image of God. This is essential, because it displays the “goodness” in not just all of Creation but God’s distinct love for human-kind as we were blessed to be made in his image, “In the first Creation narrative, Genesis 1, God celebrates what he has made and gives humankind a position of honor and responsibility,” (Shuster, 2013). This image includes the gift of rational thought, the capability to love, our spiritual attributes and our dominion over Creation. The Garden of Eden was a temple, a paradise of perfect harmony, encompassing the true and pure relationship that God desired to have with humans.…

Genesis says that God created the heavens and the earth, but in the next few verses the distinction is made between the sky and the heavens. This distinction is made when God creates a “vault” to separate the water from the water, which created the sky in between these two sets of water (Genesis 1). In the Native American story the touching of sky and water caused the creation of the First World (Navajo Creation Story). In the Christian tradition the end of God’s six days of creation signified the creation of Earth and of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1). This is important because both of those locations were considered holy places and were signified as perfect.…
