The Cosby Show is a positive image of African American television show compared to other television shows representing negative image of racial discrimination an example, is The Jefferson’s. The viewer’s acknowledges that the show avoided racial issues and existence of stereotypical African American middle-class family on television. The Huxtable family show made it a reality that a person could be able to follow their American dream and that hard work does pay off. In the 1970 to the 1980s the marked shows featuring African Americans was the Cosby Show (1984-1992). “The Cosby Show portrayal positive image of African American family the character never dealt directly with race, but their blackness was subtly expressed through on set artifacts examples, clothing, displaying names of HBCU colleges, music”(Orbe Mark & Harris, Tina. 2015, P 276). The Cosby Show cast and characters were predominately African American the show unusual did not show issues of race it was rarely mentioned on the show but compared to other comedies show like The Jefferson’s. The Cosby showed was based on a positive portrayal of a successful middle-class African American family who were very well educated. Cliff Huxtable was an obstetrician-gynecologist in New York and his wife, Clair a lawyer. The Huxtable Family was breaking racial stereotypes and themes such as Civil Right movement, of African American cultures that included artists and musicians such as James Brown, B.B. King and Stevie Wonder.…
