Higdon argues that Davis has pressured the state officials and people are starting to propose the idea that wedding officants should issue marriage license. Higdon does not have enough information to back up his arguments because there are only a couple of points that are mentioned. For example, Higdon states, “Steve Beshear (D) has resisted calls for a special session, arguing that it would not be cost-effective to convene the General Assembly simply to accommodate Davis and the two other clerks in the state who are refusing to issue licenses.” This is Higdon’s only detail regarding pressuring the state officials. I disagree with the government pushing Davis to follow the law even if she doesn’t want to. Although Davis continued to break the law, no one should be forced to do something they do not want to do. If Davis did not want to issue marriage license to a gay couple, then she shouldn’t be forced to do something she doesn’t religiously believe in. The government continued to push Davis to issue the license, but instead of arresting Davis, the officers should have asked other clerks to issue the marriage. The arrest of Davis started a spark in the media across the United Sates and many people were intrigued by the situation. After being arrested the deputy officer decided to release Davis. Many people rallied and supported Davis as she walked out of jail. A lot of people who support Davis also have religious beliefs and support Davis in her refusal. One of those people that support Davis was the Pope. In a private meeting in Washington, Pope Francis met with Davis and told her to “stay strong” and “Thank you for your courage.” Many people have the same religious beliefs as Davis and if they are brave, they will stick up for their beliefs like Davis did. No one wants to do something they don’t want to do, especially if it deals with a person’s belief. If Kentucky continues to enforce the same sex marriage law, then clerks should have the choice of issuing marriage license. If clerks have a choice
