Homosexual marriage has been legalized in all fifty states as of recently. With this, any couple can get married whenever and wherever they want to with their significant other. However, many gay and lesbian couples have had children without being married and those children have turned out fine. So, having two same sex people marry would not do anything to the institution.
The core values of marriage are communication, understanding, tolerance, empathy and honesty. A heterosexual marriage can absolutely fit those values if the couple works hard enough. However, same-sex marriage can also fit those values in the same exact way a heterosexual couple can. How does gay marriage ruin simple family core values? There are studies that explain that they have the same core values as traditional marriage.
Gay marriage would not harm the institution of marriage. A study in the Social Science Quarterly says that “permitting same sex marriage has no adverse effect on marriage, divorce, abortion and/or the percent of children born out of wedlock rates” If the homosexual marriages have little to no effect on the divorce rate and the divorce rate is up to 50% in America then there is already a very clear problem with the institution of marriage. People are already divorcing each other and breaking the institution of marriage. So why take their right away to marry? It is time for fellow Americans to rally together and take stand against the discrimination of love of two people when it has no negative effect on the people who oppose lives. Same-sex couples have never tried to cause a huge problem; they have only wanted to marry the one that they love. It has been proven that it does not harm anyone so join the movement and allow all couples in love to marry. Stand hand and hand and help these people who have been discriminated for loving the “wrong gender”. It is up to you and your fellow neighbors and family and friends to give justice to those who do not have it. Give peace to mind to those couples with expensive hospital bills to pay because their insurance does not cover each other. Give peace to mind to the children without homes that desperately want love from a family, no matter what the gender of the parents is. Most importantly, give peace to yourself by knowing you did good and helped and supported
