The Core Movie Essay

The Core was a movie with both good and bad science. One example of bad science from the movie is a bunch of people with pacemakers dieing due to the disruption of the electromagnetic field. Even though a electromagnet disruption could stop a pacemaker from working according to futurity.org the earths magnetic field will never completely shut down. One example of both good and bad science is when a bunch of birds crash into a bunch of stuff also due to the disruption of earth's magnetic field. Another bad piece of science from the movie is when lighting starts to strike a bunch of times out of nowhere. Studies show that there is always thunder before a lightning strike and there is no evidence of a lighting strike ever striking a bunch of times at the same place at the same time. A good piece of science mentioned in the movie is the fact that the crust is the thinnest layer of earth. According to nationalgeographic.org “ the earths crust makes up only about 1% of earths, it is only 40- kilometers (25 miles) deep”. Another good piece of science from the movie is when they mention the earth's magnetic field because earth does have one. Another piece of good science portrayed in the movie is the fact that the earth's liquid outer core rotates. According to geolor.com “ the fluid core is always in motion and spins at about 550 miles per hour”. One more piece of good science from the movie are underwater earthquakes.In conclusion the movie the core was a movie which portrayed both good science and bad science. All in all it was a good
