In our busy world today, we find ourselves doing more and more things that are unsafe while we are driving. We find ourselves getting more and more distracted by technology. We are texting while driving, talking on the phone while driving, and looking down to change the radio station. These things are being addressed in the media and even laws are being put in place in some states to deter people from engaging in such activities. What we don’t find is laws or testing for drowsy driving. In the age where most people are getting less sleep at night because of a multiple of reasons, there is no test to show that a person is driving incapacitated.     A visual distraction is anything that takes your eyes off the road. While driving we are constantly being side tracked by signs and advertisements we see all over the place from the newest restaurants opening, to the $100 billion Powerball billboards on the highway, the last thing you need to be doing is trying to reply to a text while paying attention to all of these catchy signs. Cognitive distractors are anything that takes your mind off the road like engaging in a conversation via text or talking on the phone, or trying to operate your navigating system while en route.
