Along with all the problems of our country, abortions are one of the most spoke on topics. The government is indecisive of whether to make it illegal or keep the current standings brought by the Supreme Court case, Roe vs Wade. The subject of abortion has been debated over ever since the law was passed that gave women the right to pursue their choice about their pregnancy. Abortion is the termination of not only one's pregnancy, but the termination of a human being’s life and therefore should not be allowed. Life begins at the point of conception and from that point on the fetus has a right to life like any other person. The abortion procedure according to many is considered murder of an unborn baby, seeing how it is the taking of a human life.…

Before abortion was legalised in the United States in 1973, women who had unwanted pregnancies had to rely on illegal abortion. Doctors who performed illegal abortions often focused more on speed rather than the safety of the mother. In the 1950s, over a million illegal abortions were performed in the United States. Due to the unsafe nature of illegal abortions, more than one thousand women died each year. (Our Bodies, Ourselves for the New Century, n.d.)…

Abortion is defined as the "premature expulsion of the fetus from the womb," one of the most controversial issues of today's society. The question, "Is it morally right for a woman to end her unwanted pregnancy," has been the leading cause for much of the hostility and tension from both sides of the political fence. Sadly, those who support abortion do not acknowledge it as a moral issue, but rather an issue of personal freedom. Although I am a major advocate of personal liberties and am wary of the government's invasion into one’s personal life and privacy, I am opposed to abortion, and support any efforts used in protecting the unborn. An unborn baby or fetus is without a doubt a living being, and terminating its life is murder.…

The debate over abortions does not stop at the concern for the fetus, such as when life of the baby begins. However, pro-life and pro-choice still don’t agree when abortion has an effect on the mother’s health issues. Pro-life also argues that abortion is much more of a dangerous procedure than simply giving birth to the fetus. Therefore, pro-life feels as if the abortion is a painful procedure and a woman should not be put through that much pain. Not to mention the mother is not the only one going through the pain but the fetus is also feeling the pain while being aborted.…
