My opinion is that deforestation is wrong and shouldn’t be done in any part of the world because it destroys the natural cycle of the rain forests and it’s hurting the environment of the region. There are many environmental issues that harm the processes of nature. “ Reforestation in the temperate forests in northern California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska has a lot of controversy behind it” (Earth’s Vanishing Forests 111). The controversy is that loggers cut down trees, then replant the trees that they want for their businesses and they aren't trying to conserve the naturality of the temperate rain forests and preserving their beauty. These temperate rainforests are home to old-growth trees, old-growth trees or forests are forests that have survived about 120 years without experiencing severe, stand-replacing disturbance- a fire, windstorm, or logging (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources). An activist group called Earth First, does everything they can to stop the destruction of these temperate rain forests. Deforestation does lead to environmental issues and just stopping it won’t be enough.
